PRAISE FOR LOUISE CONNELL
‘The rare form of artist who can blow you away with her lyrical intelligence, captivating vocal and unique delivery style’ – Music News
‘Fragrantly beautiful’ – Clash Magazine
‘Tender, nostalgic guitar playing with pure, enchanting vocals’ – Gigwise
Inspired by the literary works of Michael Chabon and the musical fervor of Iggy Pop, GOLEM 2020 is an infectious pop ballad like no other. From its authentic Scottish cadence to each lively, soaring chorus, Golem is a fitting ode to the summer that never was. Louise invites her listeners to ponder existence in this pop-packaged lesson in quantum physics.
Renowned for her inquisitive songwriting style, drawing inspiration from a myriad of books and records, Louise is never one to shy away from eccentricity. Earlier this year, Louise released ‘Crossed the Line’ in collaboration with Irish accordionist Sharon Shannon.
Discussing the single, Louise says: “The chorus of the song was inspired by a video I watched about how big a human could be, and that you can think of a human as simply the outcome of the tiny photons bouncing around them. It’s your basic summer banger, really.”
Louise Connell is a Scottish singer-songwriter from Airdrie, outside Glasgow. Recording and performing under the name Reverieme, she received considerable critical acclaim for her first studio album, ‘Straw Woman’ (2016), and her previous acoustic mini-LP ‘Or Else The Light’ (2015). Appearing both solo and with various band line-ups, she has performed at most of the major Scottish music festivals and played support for several high-profile acts such as Gotye, Newton Faulkner and Emmy The Great.
Recently her music caught the attention of renowned artist and designer James Marsh; the creative mind behind iconic sleeves for Talk Talk and Jamiroquai, amongst many others. Marsh drew inspiration from Louise’s lyrical abilities and designed the original artwork for Louise’s following trilogy of EPs; Squall, Echo, Rale.
